Hallelujah!  The boat owners and captains survived another low season.  And, as it always happens, the tourists are thinning out and the fish are arriving in great numbers.  June was an interesting month, there were some fabulous charters and some pretty mediocre ones in this time of transition.  But the good news is that we are back in business, Marlin, Sailfish and Giant Yellow fin Tuna are here and with a bit of luck, the 'Catch of the Day' is no longer in the 35 pound range but rather in the 350+ pound range.

An interesting point to mention is that it is not always possible to sling these monster fish onto a commercial scale, so the weight is usually done by measurement calculations.  There are formulas for the various species and they are amazingly accurate.  Bobbie Connolly from Austin, Texas aboard the ANTICIPATION on the 19th of June landed a HUGE black marlin. When the fish was actually measured, the overall size was 13 feet 6 1/2 inches long and it's girth was 72 inches.  Using the formula and the specific measurements required, Bobbie's marlin was even bigger than he originally thought.  Check out the details to find out how much this amazing Trophy Marlin ACTUALLY weighed.  Errors are often made in calculations because the bill to the tip of the tail are not the length and girth guidelines.  Check out Phil's Tip of the Month.

Don't miss Nicole's Recipe of the Month.  Seems that Martha S. slipped off her pedestal and Nicole is ready to jump in and fill Martha's soil filled shoes with her own sandy ones.  And has Martha ever looked THIS efficient in her kitchen?

Music again?  Groan?  Actually not one single person complained last month about Phil's musical selections and one person actually said that he liked them, so here we go again.  There is no theme this month, just a little bit of everything.  Remember, you have the option of turning off your speakers.

This is 14 year old Alex, the 'Fisher Kid' of the month.  Check out how his day went on the SOL with Captain Miguel.
