Fisher Kid of the Month

And last but not least, Phil's Fisher Kid of the Month is 14-year-old Alex who spent the 27th of June with his dad Larry on the SOL.  The day started off with a bang, Larry brought in a nice Dorado and Alex caught about 10 black Skip Jack.  Then the small stuff simply disappeared.  What else was there to do but rig up for Marlin?  And they did hook 2.  Larry and Alex had the opportunity to experience the strength of these magnificent fish.  Then, in both cases, the line broke.  Another mystery that could be Phil's Manta ray theory.

Alex is a 'natural' fisherman and needed little help from Phil when it came to making his own casts from the bow of the SOL, setting the hook and landing his fish single-handedly.   Phil had a fabulous time with Alex and Larry and can hardly wait to take them out again.  So Alex, you are the Fisher Kid of the Month.  So far there is no prize for this honor, no Jeep Cherokee or even an outboard motor, but we hope that you had enough fun just catching the fish.  Phil certainly did just watching you.
