The ESPERANZA

Puerto Vallarta is a popular cruise ship destination and many one-day visitors take advantage of a fishing charter. On the 5th of June, eight-year-old Haley 'Skittle toes' Donovan spent a day with Captain Kurt on the ESPERANZA. The family left the ELATION, jumped aboard the ESPERANZA and was heading out of the marina in a matter of minutes. Kurt is another 'kid fishing' specialist, he has his own 'fisherkid', and 2-year-old Emilio is working on perfecting his roll cast technique on fly gear. Kurt assures us that he will have this down pat in no time. Haley expertly landed 2 nice sized Needlefish single-handedly and then proceeded to name them. This was a first for Captain Kurt, catch and release is one thing but fish naming is something that has just never come up. And Haley's choice of names was pretty creative as well. 'Needle' and 'Point' are fish that Kurt will not forget for awhile. Mom and Dad saw some action as well with several Roosterfish. The ELATION arrives early in the morning each Wednesday and is in port until 10:00 pm, so a full day charter is entirely possible. By the way, Kurt named Haley 'Skittletoes' because each of her toenails was painted a different color.

Captain Kurt's angler, Charlie Keller landed the ESPERANZA'S first GIANT Yellowfin Tuna on the 18th of June. Sadly, Phil was not with them but followed the 4 hours of action via cellular telephone. The ESPERANZA finally returned to Marina Vallarta at 8:30 pm with Charlie's magnificent 380 pound monster. Charlie is a repeat customer and spent 3 days with Captain Kurt this year and brought in Yellow fin each day.
